Are you having problems with your computer? Or do you just
need some friendly local advice? Most individuals and smaller businesses now use
Personal Computers. And many people wonder who to talk
to when they have a problem or a question.
Do you
- Know if you are protected against viruses?
- Want to use e-mail but dont know how to get started?
- Need guidance on access to the Internet?
- Own several PCs and want to network them
to share information and printers?
- Want to setup a wireless network?
-
Have valuable information that needs backing-up? (But it
doesnt get done because it's too time consuming ... we can make it
quicker and easier.)
- Want to move on to a later version of Windows?
- Wonder how to best prepare labels for mail-shots?
- Wish to replace your fax machine and use a PC instead?
- Replace your laser printer toner cartridges too soon?
- Get the best out of the software that you use?
- Want to upgrade or replace a PC but youre unsure how
to transfer information across?
And what about your PCs?
They may develop faults that you dont know about
for example the hard drive may become noisy and slow. Or your
PC may have faults but you dont know what to do. For example
- Is the monitor displaying strange colours or out of focus?
(Tip: Ensure that the data cable is securely plugged in at both
ends.)
- Is your keyboard erratic? (Tip: When the PC is turned off,
turn the keyboard upside down and give it a few hard taps to
dislodge all those sandwich/biscuit crumbs, paper clips and staples.)
- Is your mouse sluggish? (Tip: Again with the PC switched
off, remove the ring surrounding the mouse ball by turning it
anti-clockwise, remove the ball, then clean the rollers inside
with a cotton bud moistened with meths or alcohol. Wipe the mouse
mat and ball with a clean damp cloth. Then replace the ball and
ring.)
